Food

Oh, food what would I do with out you. You  help me through all those times when my stomach hurts.  I eat you when I'm happy, sad, mad, hunger and you are just so good.  Food you are just so necessary to my life both physically and mentally.  You can also make feel warm on the coldest days of winter and cold on the hottest day of summer.  I can't just choose one so I just made a whole blog  post devoted to you.  So thank you so much!

Love

Love is an emotion felt towards someone or something. Love can be how you feel about a piece of clothing or toward a person you are really close to. It also means a lot to love someone or something because it normally means you have feelings above the normal for it.  Love can also be towards anything, which means it doesn't just have to be a person and if you're guy it doesn't mean you have to love a girl and the other way around as well.

"I'm Still Here" Tribute to the anonymous girl

Dear anonymous girl,

           I must start off by saying thank you.  Thank you for writing and helping us understand and learn about what had happened to you and your people.  You were very brave even though the conditions you had to live must have been very difficult. Your stories about sneaking food out because of how hungry you are shows us the difficulty of finding food.  The stories you had told through your diary have helped so much to understand you and try our best to create a better place now.  Once again thank you.

Home

Home may be that place where you live or place that makes you feel good.  A house literally is a place where you live or stay most of the time. I feel like home really is a place where you are comfortable and feel like you can be pretty much as weird as you want. Another thing that home should feel like is safe.  Sometimes home is your own house or maybe your friend's house it can be anywhere that you feel safe and have the feeling of just being yourself.  This shows that some people may have multiple homes and that doesn't mean that you live in those homes.  I feel like a house is the building where you live and home is somewhere where you feel safe and comfortable.

First Holy Communion

 

This picture shows the priests, and the communicants, which I am apart of.  This was taken on January 21, 2018 the day of our First Holy Communion.  I found it important to me because it was a big step in my faith and I find my faith very important.

Basketball

This is my basketball team of the Winter 2017. We may not of taken that many wins but I'm pretty sure we all can agree we all had fun.  

Dance

This picture is of me and my friend right before we preformed our dance.  I feel like dance has been and still is a big part of my life.  Especially since I have been doing it since I was 5.  Dance has helped me get happy when I am down and just have fun.

1) Stronger - Hillsong Worship

This song is on of my favorite Christian songs.  I choose a Christian song because my faith is very important to me and church and my religion is a big part of me.

2) Silence - Marshmello ft. Khalid

I chose this song because I personally struggle with stepping out of my comfort zone, mostly speaking up about something.  This song shows me that I have to speak up and step out of my comfort zone.

3) Mirror - Lil Wayne ft. Bruno Mars

I feel like Mirror is a very powerful song with a lot meaning behind it. This song really shows how you are the only one that knows what you're hiding or what you are feeling on the inside, no matter how much you say that others understand just by looking at you.

4) Human - Christina Perri

This song I feel like everyone can relate to at some point in their life because it shows that none of us are perfect because we are humans.  We all make mistakes and can't always be the way we or others want us to be.  

5) Titanium - David Guetta ft. Sia

This song represents when I feel strong and in a way unstoppable.  I normally can take criticism and still be strong.  It shows that when people may try to bring me down I won't let them get to me and change me or break me down.

All these songs mean a lot to me or represent me in some way.  I know that at least for me music is a big part of me and means a lot to me.

Creative Writing

Outside the cabin, the wind howled through the trees, while inside, the old woman's fire was nearly out.  The fire little but bright, the embers blowing high in to the sky with the wind.  But no one knew the magic of the embers. The ember touched a bird and turned it to a fiery bright phoenix and one would touch a wolf and turn it into a wolf of fire.  Anything touched by the ember of the old woman's fire would into something mystical.  The magical embers wanted a human to control and turn in to a  one who can bend the element of fire.  They wanted to take over the whole world and gain complete power.  The only thing that can save the world from was the embers is the mystic water.  The only way to get the mystic water is to touch one ember to water but it must only be one ember.  The woman woke up and noticed the mystical beasts assembling around the fire.  The women notices it reminds her of one of her witch books she did not think was telling any truth.  She runs to the book and sees how to make the mystic water and gets the water.  But the second she opened her door the embers came closer causing her to slam the door but notices a couple of embers made it in she manages to slip one of them into the water.  The water starts to glow and she goes to the book and reads that she had to pore the water on the fire.  She decides to open the window and throw the bottle into the flames before anything was able to get to her and the flame goes out and with a glow everything goes back to normal.

Regionals 2017

Over my Winter Break I went to a conference for church called Regionals.  Regionals was honestly a really good experience for me.  The conference lasted 4 days and was at a retreat site in Michigan.  I mean even the bus ride there was fun whether it was the movie playing or that guy dancing in the back of the bus right before we arrived.  At the conference site we would have these talks surrounding the main idea which was Strength in Weakness and had a pastor talk to us for an hour and twice a day for the 2 full days we were there, which I know sounds boring but really wasn't.  After the talks we would have small group discussions which is where I met my 4 newest friends, I already miss them :(.  We would have some time to just go do whatever we want, we could go hang out in the gym or the cabins or just take a nap.  We also had worship before the talks which was a time where we all just sang together with 6 people leading by playing an instrument and/or singing.  The food there was alright but I mean it's food and we could get as much as we want of it.  The final day was pretty sad honestly after the service it was just people taking pictures and giving out their number, yes I was one of those people, but that day we, my small group, decided to all sit together for lunch and after that our leaders had gone to say bye to their friends and we all hung out till it was time to leave.  We also had a sendoff to our Achens, priests, and multifamily wouldn't be able to make it the next confrence .  In the end I want to say that Regionals has helped make new friends and grow in my faith so I can't wait for Regionals 2018.

Spider-Man Homecoming Review

I would say that Spider-Man Homecoming was one of the best movies superhero stories I've seen.  In my opinion it had that good humor of the teen Peter Parker, the character behind Spider-man. Even though it may not have the best fight scenes, in my opinion, it makes up for that with the story.  This movie would be a good choice if you like a nice comedy that still has that superhero feel.  If you also enjoyed Deadpool you would probably enjoy because it has a similar feel but more kid friendly.  In conclusion, I would give this movie a 8/10 because I feel like there are better movies but it's pretty high up on my list.  

What Teens TOTALLY Want

I’m going to tell you what to get for your fellow teens.  Here’s what teens TOTALLY want for the holidays.

1. Fidget Spinners, All teens really want a fidget spinner because they were all the rage.  They’ll all look really cool walking around with fidget spinners in their hands.
2. Pop-sockets, I feel like practically every teen had or has one of these so why not get them one.
3. The latest iPhone, I'm everyone loves iPhones, right. So why don't you get your fellow teen one.
4. The latest Xbox or PS, All teens these days just want to play video games and watch videos and shows. So why not get them one because it totally isn't in a responsible price range for a nice cheap gift.
5. Teens, girls especially, totally want Starbucks all the time. So get them Starbucks because everyone likes coffee, right?

Perseverance

I decide to do this post surrounding the quote by,
"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever."

This quote shows that perseverance can only be found if you don't quit because once you do the pain or whatever you are trying to accomplish lasts. You need to have perseverance to get past the pain as it says in the quote. The pain may feel like it lasts what feels like forever but if you don't let it get you and make you give up you'll get through it with your perseverance.

Outsiders Comparison

I think that I'm most like the character Sodapop from The Outsiders because I would say I'm close with my family and friends.  He also would stand up for his family and friends which I feel like I would do, at least most of the time.  He also would fight for what he thinks is right which I would do too

Gratitude List

1) My family in general for being there for me 

2) My brother because he always helps me, makes me laugh, and is there for me in general

3) My best friends because they know how to make me happy and make me laugh all the time
  
4) Food, I mean it tastes sooo good and makes me happy when I eat if  =)

5) Music (songs, albums, and artist) because it helps me relax and it also gets me happy, I mean other than those really sad songs but those are the best to be honest XD

7) The weekends and holiday breaks because I like having some time to myself

8) The internet because it lets me communicate with others and helps keep me entertained

9) YouTube because it keeps me entertain with its new videos which the content creators make

Childhood Shows

I have changed a lot since I was a little child.  I used read more books, go outside, play with toys, and watch TV.  I remember watching a show called Fairly Odd Parents. I believe that I only really started watching it because of my brother.  Anyways,  I remember loving the little predicaments that Timmy, the main character, would get in and all the time he would have to use Cosmo and Wanda, his fairy god parents, to get out of them,  I am pretty sure my favorite character was Cosmo because of how silly and funny he was.  I totally loved that show.

Proud To Be A Nerd!

I'm a nerd especially for a certain game called League of Legends which is a team based fighting game.  I feel like I'm a nerd for LoL, League of Legends, even thought I hate it sometimes but the reason I like it so much the many possibilities from the many characters and different outcomes.  Even though I'm trash at the game it's still a really fun game and always is updating to make it even better and to add more characters.  Sometimes you get really nice, good teammates but sometimes you get toxic teammates, they will be yelling at every single thing you do wrong and not even acknowledge the good things you do no matter how bad they are doing.

Favorite Quote

My favorite quote would be "Strangers think I'm quite, my friends think I'm out-going, my best friends know that I'm completely insane!"  I really like this quote because it shows how different I'm once you get to know me.  I remember practically all the adults I met, especially when I was young, thought I was a very why girl, but then my friends didn't think I was that shy but really when I'm comfortable around people, like my best friends, they know my real self, the self that is truly insane.

Hi there, I'm Shalu and my closest friends would say I have some very strong opinions on certain things and am quite weird, and I agree with both.  I have an older brother.  I like to listen to lots of music, curl up with a good book, play soccer, and play a game called League of Legends.  I mostly read books with dystopian societies.  I listens to artists like Panic!
